Stone House on the sea front
LOCATED in Mani,South Peloponesse,65 klm away from Kalamata and 9 klm from Stoupa. In a traditional greek working village The property is practically right at the sea, with the house in the back: It used to be the home of a ship-builder,with the workshop on the bottom floor and the rooms above. He ran the boats right from the workshop to the sea, therefore the property has a wide strip of land from the house right to the road above the shore. So it/s just a few steps from the front door to the flat rocks that serve as a beach for the people of the village. SIZE + CONDITION: The size of the property is ca. 360 m2, with a garden,a well (!) and an old stone-house from 1836. The house is constructed in L-Shape, as is typical for the area, with a camara adjacent to the main building, and a kitchen above the camara, as well a veranda in front of the kitchen, and a balcony in front of the main building, facing the sea. Today the building consists of the outer walls only,in part re-constructed recently from the old beautiful local marble-stone (many in rose and green colour) and with the traditional old marble corner stones. The house got a new roof in traditional style, that is bamboo inside and monk-and-nun-shingles on top. The size of the house measures ca. 80 m2 for each of the two floors (which are presently still missing in the main building). The construction of the inside is totally up to the new owners - one could easily divide the house up into two or three appartements, or it could have 3-4 bedrooms, a big living room, kitchen, 2 bathrooms. A building permit was attained in 2003. A newly built wall (from old stone) surrounds most of the property, except the strip of land in front of it and a piece of garden in the back. Right around the corner there is a Taverna which isfamous for its delicious food, and there is a small harbour in which the new owners could have their own boat.
